VP Without Borders explores how portable technology, virtual assets, standardized workflows, and mobile production teams are making it possible to bring Virtual Production to the production, rather than requiring the production to come to the volume.
Virtual Production has traditionally been associated with large, permanent LED stages—but the next evolution of VP is about mobility. As productions increasingly follow incentives, locations, talent, infrastructure, and financing around the world, the virtual production pipeline needs to be able to travel with them. VP Without Borders explores how portable technology, virtual assets, standardized workflows, and mobile production teams are making it possible to bring Virtual Production to the production, rather than requiring the production to come to the volume.
This session will examine what it really means to create a portable VP pipeline. Mobility extends far beyond packing LED panels into trucks. It means developing environments and assets that can move between facilities, designing workflows that can be reproduced on different stages and technology platforms, and establishing processes that allow filmmakers to begin creative development in one city and execute principal photography in another. From Virtual Art Department and previs through camera testing, ICVFX and final-pixel photography, the goal is to create a workflow that remains consistent even when the physical stage changes.
