Mads Brydegaard Buus

Visual artist, Virtual Production Supervisor, Art Director

Mads Buus is a virtual production expert working at the intersection of cinematic innovation, technology, and art. With a creative background spanning art direction, real-time visuals, and acclaimed light art installations, he brings both technical expertise and creative sensibility to his work.

Building on more than a decade of experience in real-time visuals, Mads was the driving force behind one of the world’s first live-broadcast virtual productions and played a key role in launching and designing the Shortcut LED Stage, a major milestone in Northern Europe’s virtual production landscape. As a Virtual Production Supervisor, he has supervised virtual production workflows for multiple Netflix productions, feature films, and high-profile commercial projects.

Known for combining creative vision with technical problem-solving, Mads works across concept development, technical workflows, team collaboration, and production strategy. His work focuses on using virtual production not only as a tool for efficiency, but as a new creative language and workflow for filmmakers.

Today, together with the team at Nordisk Film, he works to elevate Danish fiction through hybrid approaches including AI, Gaussian splatting, 360° plate recordings, Unreal Engine, and advanced virtual production workflows.
