This year's PICTURE THIS conference is therefore looking beyond the hype in order to take a pragmatic look into how pioneering creatives, producers, and innovation frontrunners are adapting to this new industry environment beyond the headlines and buzzwords.

The closing session will once again be a deep dive by major Scandinavian and European filmmakers into how they've mastered virtual production and innovative technology for their latest productions.

Picture This Panorama: Case Studies from European and Nordic Films

Moderated by Denmark's VFX supervisor par excellence Mikael Windelin, the 2025 closing session of Picture This brings together an unprecedented group of filmmakers offering a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look into their art and craft.

The 2025 lineup of guests includes director Daniel Espinosa, production designer Niels Sejer, and Dutch director and producer of films & television series Bobby Boermans who will give the audience a never-before-seen look behind their latest screen magic. The participants will discuss 'Reservatet'/' Secrets We Keep' by director Per Fly for Netflix, case presented by Production Designer Niels Sejr. 'Helicopter Heist' also for Netflix presented by director Daniels Espinoza and last by not least 'iHostage', a Netflix movie presented by director Bobby Boermans and VP supervisor Dennis Kleyn. The discussion will showcase how the latest virtual production technologies have become the indispensable toolkit and aid the independent filmmakers to bring their visions to the screen.

Dennis Kleyn graduated in 2002 from the Dutch Film Academy and switched to visual effects filmmaking after two years of directing. In 2004 he founded Planet X, where he is presently CEO, today among the most prominent studios in the Netherlands, providing creative visual effects for top-end feature film and television productions with a dedicated team of over thirty VFX artists. 

Notable projects include 'iHostage' (Netflix, 2025), 'El Eternauta' (Netflix, 2025), 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' (Netflix, 2024) 'Dragon Girl' (winner Amanda Award 2021) and 'Close' (Grand Prix Cannes 2022, Academy Award nominee). 

In March 2022, Kleyn co-founded ReadySet Studios, a virtual production studio in Amsterdam. ReadySet welcomes content creators from around the globe to make use of its state-of-the-art virtual production facilities to realize outstanding in-camera VFX. The studio has facilitated well over 90 productions since its founding. Kleyn is actively involved in the Dutch VFX community as chairman of the Dutch VFX Association (NVX), which he co-founded in 2014, and board member for the NPA, the Netherlands Post production Alliance.
